Ok, so the jeweler I had been emailing with said she could get the matching wedding band for me from the same company Andy got my e-ring from for $825. Andy and I wanted to keep it under $1,000 so I told her it sounded good to me, I just needed to talk to my fiance and get my correct ring size (since my e-ring is too big) and I’d get back to her.
Today Andy and I went to the mall so I could get my finger sized. Before we went in I told Andy I would first ask them if they had a band that matched mine and then ask for them to determine my ring size since it’d be weird to just walk in, ask for my size, and walk out. When I went with Andy to look for rings for him the jeweler showed me a ring they had that was similar to mine, but the stones were noticably larger and it didn’t look right together. I was figuring the same thing would happen today. Well the lady showed me a ring that was a pretty good match. The stones were still slightly larger, but not too noticable, the setting was slightly different, but would only be noticed upon close inspection, and the diamonds ran a little further along the side than mine do. So overall it wasn’t an exact match, but pretty close. However, this ring is on sale for $400.
Now I have to decide if I want to spend $825 on the perfect matching band or $400 on something that’s pretty close. One the one hand, it’s a $425 difference, which is a lot when you consider that we’re already over budget. On the other hand, $425 isn’t that much money when you consider that I’ll be wearing this ring for the rest of my life. Before I even email the other jeweler I asked what he thought would be a reasonable amount to spend and he basically said under $1,000. I asked Andy what I thought today after we left the mall and he said it’s my decision. Which ring should I choose???

Choose which ring would make you happiest. What’s more important to you? Spending less money or having an exact match? It’s a decision you have to live for the rest of your life with!
If I was in your situation, I would go with the less expensive ring just because I’d be afraid if I lost it (plus I’m a little tight with money). For me, it’s the meaning behind the ring than it’s value/appearance. You could always get an upgrade later in life and have more rings! That’s a plus lol.

Thank you for the advice! I’m still not quite sure what to do, maybe I should sleep on it. I could also go back to the mall and go to some other stores and see what they have. Maybe someone has an even closer match. Ugh, I have 3 exams this week and I’m worrying about a ring!
